City Experience

June 7, 2006

Did you have trouble getting to the places you needed to be?

Yes some places where hard to get to.

Were the maps you had useful (did they help you find your way)?

Yes the where very useful after day 1 looking at the map I knew where we where not mater where we were in the city for the next to days.

Did you work effectively as a team?

Yes we did it was good because we all cooperated together

Which was your favourite activity?

M.C.G was my favourite by far because I love the M.C.G.

What activities would you not do again?

Ian Potter Gallery because it is so god dam boring

What were the highlights of the City Experience for you?

Working as a team to get places in your small groups was a big highlight for me.

What surprised you most about the city? Um probably all the 7/11s in every street, there’s like 10 in every street

What were the main problems you encountered?

I didn’t encounter any problems really.

If you organized the City Experience next year, what changes would you make?I would make us go to different places like I would change the Ian Potter gallery to maybe go to the Melbourne Aquarium something like that anyway.

Explain why you did or did not enjoy the City Experience as a whole.

I enjoyed city experience alot working with your mates to go places and going to places I havnt been before and its made me more confident to take public transport.

Questions Of Stereotype For Bend It Like Beckham

May 4, 2006

1). How do stereotypes (eg. Girls don’t play soccer, girls should be wanting to get married and have children, boys should be playing soccer not coaching a female soccer team) impact on the lives of the characters in Bend It Like Beckham? Do they affect some of the choices they make?

Stereo types impact on the characters in Bend It Like Beckham because as the example stated they girls shouldn’t be playing soccer they should be wanting to get married and have kids, girls playing soccer is like being against there actual stereo type. And The guy that coaches the girls soccer team is against his stereo type because what the hell is a guy doing coaching a GIRLS soccer team guys are suppose to be playing soccer or coaching a team of guys.

2). Do you think stereotypes like these exist in Australian society? Explain your answer.

Yes because if it didn’t exist in Australian society then our Society would be boring. It would be boring because everyone would be the same nothing different, nothing to talk about, nothing to improve on and nothing to try and change.

3). Think of a time that you have confronted a stereotype. Maybe like the characters in Bend It Like Beckham, people expected you have behave in a different way that you wanted to? Or perhaps you expected someone else to behave differently than they did?

When I played football in under 12s we were playing a team that had a girl in the team and I had to decide if I should go hard at her or not  but I thought if she wanted to play football she knew that she would get tackled so I tackled her hard.

4). Where do you think stereotypes come from? Are the media partly responsible?

Yes the media is partly responsible because they promote these different stereotypes. What would go on telly if the media wasn’t responsible for stereotypes NOTHING because they don’t have those peoples images or stereotypes out there.

Rehab Challenge

April 26, 2006

A major challenge in my life was trying to get over my injuries and getting through rehab. I felt really challenged because the first time a did my knee and some of the exercises took time and I didn’t really want to it because they were difficult and I had better things to do but I had to keep persisting because it ment if I didn’t do these exercise’s good the first time it would mean my knee wouldn’t be as strong as it used to be and that ment my knee would become easy to dislocate and it mite mean I mite not ever play sports again. I’m a sports freak so I need to get through this so I kept doing my exercises. After about 4 weeks of rehab and 7 weeks in a splint I was back out on the footy field again and I was moving around good and then came the semi final, I got through 3 quarters and then bang my own team mate had slidden into my ankle and it snapped and this happened about 6 weeks before the cricket season and of course cricket is my favourite sport. So I was in plaster for 6 weeks and couldn’t do anything and it killed me because I couldn’t cricket train and then finally when the plaster came off I had to get use to walking on it again before I could start rehab AGAIN. I got use to walking again and I got more difficult exercises to strengthen my ankle and the same thing happened I couldn’t be bothered but I thought if I do these properly I can get back out and play cricket again and that just inspired me. The physio told me I couldn’t play cricket probably until after Christmas but I kept doing my exercises every night and it became strong enough. I did the best I could so I could get back playing cricket before Christmas and I did I only ended up missing the first two games. After doing all the hard work with my ankle the first game back I ended up hitting a fifty and I proved to myself I can do it if I really want to.

Grand Final

March 28, 2006

As I walk out onto the ground the smell of freshly cut grass hits my nostrils and fills my lungs with a tingling sensation.

The sky is as blue as the ocean and the sun is as bright as ever, not a cloud in site.

I walk out onto the wicket and mark centre with my spiked boot, I gently graze it along just enough to see it, now I’m set to await my first ball.

As I wait for my first ball I see a beautiful flock of birds sparkle in the suns rays.

The bowlers running in to bowl with the cricket ball glistening in his hand as he releases the ball as shiny as it is it swings a mile and the umpire stretches his arms out and singles a wide to the scores who’s up in the grand stand in the best seats of the house.

The grand stand is so bright with sun reflecting of the windows it finishes off a great scene to the cricket ground.
